"A" Team Expectations

Players who are interested in playing on the 13-14 "A" team should be aware of the following expectations:

*Players must place a priority on Lacrosse during the Spring season. Commitment is required to develop individual and team skills.

*Players should be in their best physical shape. The "A" game is very fast and requires a high level of speed AND endurance. Players will be evaluated on running and speed drills.

*Players must have the ability to consistantly catch and throw with both dominant and non dominant hands. Accuracy, distance, and velocity will be evaluated. Ability to catch and throw consistently while on the move is critical. Players must be comfortable cradling with both dominant and non dominant hands.

*Players must have a positive and confident attitude. Players must be willing to try new things and be coachable.

Overall, girls that are interested in playing at the "A" level should put in practice and conditioning time prior to the start of evaluation February 21st. Individual practice is STRONGLY recommended!

"B" Team Expectations

Players interested in playing on a "B" team will need to meet the following expectations:

*Players should be in good physical shape. Lacrosse is a game that is fast and requires speed AND endurance. Players will be evaluated on running and speed drills.

*Players must be able to consistantly catch and throw accurately with their dominant and non-dominant hand and be comfortable throwing and cradling with their non dominant hand.

*Players must have a positive and confident attitude. Players must be willing to try new things and be coachable.

"C" Team Expectations

"C" team players usually have played the game for a while, but are just not as confident with the rules of the game and/or their stick skills.

C players should be confident catching and throwing with their dominant hand. They should be working on increasing their comfort level their non-dominant catching, throwing and cradling.

*Players should respect themselves, their coaches and their teammates. Come to practice ready to learn and have fun!

*Cell phone use during practice or games is not permitted on any team.

Emphasis on FUNdamentals, teamwork and the rules of the game are encouraged at every level! Everyone will be placed on a team where they will be able to learn and love the game of Women's lacrosse.

  • Make sure each player arrives on time and ready to begin practice at the designated time listed above for your age group. Each player should also come equipped to play, mouth guard, and stick, girl's gloves are optional, however they are a good idea especially in the cold.
  • Eye protection (girls goggles or eye cages) are mandatory. You can purchase them at either Dicks, Bacharach, Sports Her Way, or most other sporting goods stores, please make sure that they meet US lax guidelines.
  • If you are dropping your player off, please make sure that you return at least ten to fifteen minutes before practice ends to be able to hear any instructions that are given at the end of practice.
  • Remember to dress appropriately; it can be very cold on the field in March.
  • You may want to bring a water bottle with your name on it.
  • We recommend labeling all equipment with name and phone number.
  • Your coach will distribute uniforms once teams are assembled.
  • In the event there is inclement weather please check the web site for cancellation notices www.luthervillelax.com and click on weather cancellations or check the weather line at 410-628-8889 one hour prior to practice or game time.
