Lutherville-Timonium Lacrosse Club- LTLC Girls
As we grow our club program, we will focus on player development, age-appropriate skill and athletic development, overall athletic literacy by honoring in-season sports and keeping Lacrosse Fun! We also understand that parents are looking for providing these opportunities at a reasonable cost. We can offer resources that are equal to or better than local club organizations at much more reasonable costs by leveraging our access to Baltimore County Recreation and Parks fields, including lighted turf fields (Seminary Turf will be resurfaced this summer).
Our goal is to give our players an alternative to the multitude of club programs while maintaining an affordable cost. We will focus on player development and skills training with US Lacrosse Certified Coaches. Think about the value of Club for the price of Rec.
The potential to create a Girls Club program is contingent on the number of girls who are interested in this program. Teams will be considered a developmental team with additional costs. There is no cost to try out and girls that don't make the Club team will be offered spots on other travel and/or in-house teams based on ability and committment level. Tryouts are currently estimated for mid Fall 2019. Scroll below for our program details.
We know that parents are looking for the best opportunities for their daughters based on several factors and we want to be honest about where we are as a program so you can make those decisions. We will say that while there is intense pressure for girls to:
- join private club teams at younger and younger ages to “secure a spot for the future”,
- access paid="better" coaches, and
- compete at the highest level year round (prioritizing lacrosse over other sports); it is important to understand the pros and cons of these teams.
In fact, specializing on any one sport at younger ages is systematically rejected by all major sports’ governing bodies, securing spots on club teams doesn’t last when the club needs to improve its ranking and standing, and having kids sit on the bench just to be on elite teams, isn’t for everyone.
Finally, we want to educate and provide parents with some perspective as they look into more competitive options for their kids while dispelling the notion that private club teams are the only option.
